Scholarship. The Dixon KayCee Club will have a A Knight of Wine and Beer fundraiser for the Catholic Scholarship Fund, 6 p.m., Saturday at Knights of Columbus, 506 W. Third St., Dixon. For $20, attendees get 10 sample tickets for drinks provided by Crystal Cork. Tickets are sold in advance or at the door; call 815-28-1821. Event includes a dessert auction and silent auction.
The Force Be With You. The 501st Midwest Garrison – Rebel Legion of Star Wars costume enthusiasts will appear at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at Discovery Center Museum. Guests can practice their Jedi skills, have photo opportunities and play “floor is water” with Lilo. Space attire is encouraged. Admission $10.
Gallery viewing. Eagle’s Nest Art Group exhibit will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, through April 1 at Byron Museum of History, 110 N. Union St., Byron. Opening reception will be 1 p.m. Feb. 4.
It’s your move. Sterling Chess Club members will act as servers for a meal fundraiser 5 p.m. Monday at the Pizza Ranch, 3900 E. Lincolnway, Sterling. The group needs money to cover costs with attending the United State Chess Federation tournament, Feb. 17-19 in Schaumburg.
Lace ’em up. Family skate night 5 p.m. Saturday at the Rotary Skating Rink, hosted by the Mount Carroll Lions. Coffee, hot cocoa, hot dogs and marshmallow roasting included. If postponed by weather, it will move to Jan. 28.
Bruch ‘n’ birds. Taft Eagle Watching Brunches will be 9:30 a.m. Sunday and again on Feb. 5 at Lorado Taft Campus near Oregon. Price of brunch starts at $14 and is organized through the Oregon Park District. Includes educational presentation about the bald eagle and its role in the Rock River Valley ecology.
