The Papillion community honored those who served our country this Veterans Day.
American Legion Post 32 held Friday’s services at Veterans Park.
The Omaha Douglas Public Building Commission’s retired Brig. Gen. Paul Cohen was the guest speaker.
He said veterans are the 1% who answer the call to defend the other 99%.
“Some gave their lives, the ultimate and selfless service. Some gave limbs, eyesight, hearing and mental health. But all gave service to protect and defend the principals upon which this great nation, despite our flaws, continue to make the United States the envy of others around the world,” Cohen said.
Cohen said the job of the veteran isn’t over though.
He encouraged veterans to share their stories with the generation of future service members.
He said they need to hear it to know their service is needed.
