The Robins Foundation is excited to announce its new Youth and Adult Visual Impairment Football sessions.
There are almost two million people in the UK living with sight loss, a figure which includes approximately 365,000 people registered as blind or partially sighted and more than 25,000 blind and partially sighted children (aged 0-16).
Football can develop several skills and can also improve self-esteem and provide a safe environment to create enjoyable experiences and The Foundation is providing free Visual Impairment sessions for young people and adults .
💬 Foundation Disability Engagement Officer Sam Smith said” “It is great that we can offer these brand-new sessions to the community, increasing our disability football programme and making our sessions even more accessible to a wider audience. Thank you to the funding providers that have made putting on these sessions possible.
“We will also be looking at providing players from these sessions a chance to play against other teams and take part in local and national tournaments and festivals.”
💬 Disability Community Coach Ed Studley added: “Since I started at the Foundation I have wanted the opportunity to help launch a meaningful project very close to my heart. Visual Impairment football certainly fits that as my son Harry has been severely sight impairment since a horrific accident in 2016 which left him severely disabled.”
“I am really looking forward to launching our new sessions and facilitating a safe environment for children and adults with visual impairments to play football.”
